Breaking News: Connecticut Just Legalized Medical... →
While it may not be as lenient as similar laws in states such as California or Colorado, the legalization of medical marijuana in Connecticut is a sign that the process of legalization may not take as long as we once thought. With the addition of the new state, there are a total of 17 states (and Washington D.C.) that have legalized marijuana for medical use.
The U.S. senators and representatives who refuse even to consider raising taxes...

A few of my comic friends have posted this article on Facebook: http://jezebel.com/5905291/a-complete-guide-to-hipster-racism
I was dismayed by how many people reacted, “This article is stupid! I’m not racist, this guy’s just a PC douchebag!” and how ALL of the people I’ve seen react that way were white.
I’m going to spell it out this way: saying that something you do or say...

Um see what’s happening here is that this bitch thinks that you are her friend and you think she’s your friend. That’s the problem, really. If she was just a chick in your nerdy book club, you would talk to her about books, not boys. And from what I’ve gathered from your question, you’re not sharing boy issues with the whole club, just this chick. And what does she do...

bbthity:
A Qatari royal family member has purchased a Greek island for €5m ($6.59m), according to reports published in local media.
Citing unnamed sources, Oxia, Greek daily Ekathimerini reported that the island, spread across 1,236-acres, was initially advertised by owners the Greek-Australian Stamoulis family for €6.9m ($9.1m) while adding that the island’s new owners are interested in...

I don’t understand a lot of things. I don’t understand why my neighbor is pursuing a career as a 1990’s electronic music artist. I don’t understand why the ice cream shop near my house considers two scoops of ice cream one scoop. And I don’t understand how women, educated journalists, can be so…
Eight Things White Parents Should Teach About... →
I wish Social Justice warriors wouldn’t constantly erase the reality of mixed-race families.
There’s something…just off about this list. I’m not sure if it’s the tone, or the presumption that people grow up super-segregated all over the country, but this is not hitting the right notes.

Stuff that makes me hesitate
Yes, like people who talk about “the burning times.” OMG, it was WOMEN (well, mostly. a few men too) who were persecuted, not actual witches.

Brian, Brian, Brian...: From www.lifehacker.com:... →
I feel like Brian does! Which is why I oscillate between long periods of hermit-writing and hitting the clubs/mics, where sometimes I just lurk. There’s far too many comedians without souls who think that being a comic gives them license to douche around in public.

First of all, was HE cute? Were YOU drunk? That matters more here. If you want, you can send me his photos by mail (feminism40@gmail.com) and I can judge them. I’m really good at harshly judging people’s appearance.
Second of all, shame on you for messaging him first. This guy isn’t going to message you back. Face it. And you know why? Because you have deprived him of...

I write a lot, but I also improvise a lot on stage. I often feel like I could plan forever, but when I get on stage I just am in a zone and do what comes up. But I’ve seen people who don’t write or plan do very well, and vice versa.
I think it depends where the comics ego is. Are they jerking themselves off to their own funnies, or are they objectively concerned with their jokes...

“You want to say Hi to the cute girl on the subway. How will she react? Fortunately, I can tell you with some certainty, because she’s already sending messages to you. Looking out the window, reading a book, working on a computer, arms folded across chest, body away from you = do not disturb. So, y’know, don’t disturb her. Really. Even to say that you like her hair, shoes, or book. A...

I know this is a little late, but I finally managed to put this into writing. A couple of weeks ago, Bill Burr went on a rant about alt-comedy. Here are my thoughts on it.
This blog is on point. I never really worked the alt rooms, I went straight for the clubs BECAUSE I had written so much. I had a lot of experience in sketch comedy before I tried standup, and...

Well, obviously, like all successful things you must methodically engineer it’s success by copying what those that have come before you have done. The more steps, the better! Who doesn’t like a nice, thorough plan?
So, look up all the websites that are like yours, nay scratch that, are like yours but BETTER. Then subtly copy their style and approach to marketing by...

Ick, you sound like you took some sort of boring 8 hour course on courtship.
What kind of girls are you going out with, may I ask? Why are they letting you do all that for them and then saying you’re in the friend zone? Could it be because you’re going out with girls who don’t have any desire to find a real relationship, but rather adhere to some story of how things...

Someone asked me where I was when Kurt Cobain died yesterday. I had to think about it for a sec.
I was in the 5th grade, complaining to my classmates that I had to wait 3 more weeks for Greek Easter (they were like a month apart that year.)
You asked.
